Gurveen Kaur is a Grade 12 student at Wood Blossom School, Kairon, India, and a youth climate advocate and environmental storyteller. Her environmental work began with leading Plastic to Purpose, a student-led initiative addressing plastic waste through collection, segregation and EcoBrick-making. She also led a student workshop on transforming plastic waste into EcoBricks and later documented the project for ESRAG South Asia’s ECHO Magazine, with her article subsequently selected for the ESRAG Global Monthly Newsletter as one of two entries from South Asia.

In 2026, Gurveen joined ESRAG South Asia’s Editorial and Outreach Teams, promoting climate programmes including the Climate Innovation Challenge across South Asia. Her CIC outreach work earned her the Climate Innovation Challenge Outreach Champion Award. As District Interact Representative for Rotary International District 3070, she led Project CLEAR, an international environmental collaboration connecting young people in India and Brazil. She also participated in CIC herself with a project exploring stubble burning in Punjab.

Through these experiences, Gurveen is particularly interested in connecting climate action with youth engagement and local communities. She hopes to make climate opportunities more accessible to young people and help turn local action into broader environmental change. Outside of climate work, she enjoys theatre, dance, public speaking and student leadership.
