CAVU Compiles an Inventory in Sierpe

Through a grant made possible by Friends of the Osa (FOO), CAVU recently completed an aerial inventory of the Terraba- Sierpe Wetland registered as a Wetland of International Significance, a RAMSAR site, in 1995.

More than 3500 images were collected, helping to identify current land use conditions, assess impacts from agricultural activities on lands adjacent to the wetlands, document mangrove forest ecosystem health and provide solid justification for this important wetland to be considered for inclusion into the inventory of World Heritage Sites.

Additionally, we flew over Santa Cecilia property and FOO’s Piro Biological Station, as well as the newly dedicated Greg Gund Conservation Center in the Osa.
